National Seminar on Insurance Innovations and Digital Transformation held at Assam down town University

Assam down town University, in collaboration with the Guwahati Insurance Institute (GII), an Associated Institute of the Insurance Institute of India (III), successfully organized a National Seminar on "Insurance for All by 2047: Policy Innovations and Digital Transformation". Hosted by the Faculty of Commerce and Management and IQAC, the seminar brought together students, research scholars, academicians, and industry experts for an engaging and insightful discussion on the evolving landscape of the insurance sector, its role in economic growth, and the transformative impact of digital innovations.

The event was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Narayan Chandra Talukdar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of AdtU, and Prof Pranveer Singh PhD (IITK) FIE FSED Disruptive Education and Learning Innovator, Pro-Vice Chancellor. It featured thought-provoking keynote addresses and panel discussions led by distinguished industry stalwarts, including Sri Deepak Kumar, Chairman, Guwahati Insurance Institute, who emphasized the need for academia-industry collaboration; Mr. Somnath Roy, Ex-Insurance Ombudsman, who shed light on policy innovations and regulatory frameworks; and Sri Swapan Jyoti Sarma, Corporate Trainer and Ex-Senior Divisional Manager, LICI, who highlighted emerging trends and digital advancements in insurance services. Additionally, esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Homeswar Goswami, Prof. (Dr.) Homeswar Kalita, and Prof. (Dr.) Joydeep Goswami, underscored the importance of financial literacy and awareness in driving insurance adoption.

The seminar saw diverse participation from across the country, with 41 research papers presented on contemporary topics such as insurance awareness, government incentives, digital disruption, and policy reforms. The hybrid format enabled wider engagement, while panel discussions fostered insightful dialogues on insurance literacy, technological advancements, and government initiatives shaping the industry's future. The contributions of GII members, including Sri Pranjal Puzari, Smt. Lipika Kalita, Smt. Syamalika Bordoloi Barman, Sri Dwipen Mudiar, and Smt. Nirupama Bhattacharjyya, enriched the seminar with valuable industry insights.

The event was led by Dr. Seema Sharma, Dean, FCM, as Chairperson, with Dr. Tanima Tarafdar as Convener and Dr. Bishal Bhuyan and Mr. Santujit Chanda as Co-Conveners. The collaboration between Assam down town University and GII highlighted the significance of industry-academia partnerships in research, policy advocacy, and skill development within the insurance sector.
