National Pharmacy Week celebrates pharmacists’ vital role in vaccination advocacy through an engaging expert session and creative student competitions

Assam down town University, through its Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, observed the 64th National Pharmacy Week, aligned with the theme “Pharmacists as Advocates of Vaccination.” 

The program featured an insightful and impactful session by Mr. Imtiyazul Houqe, Pharmacist, Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, who delivered a comprehensive talk on the indispensable role of pharmacists in promoting immunization and strengthening public health systems. To inspire student participation and creativity, a Short Video/Reel Making Competition was also organized, recognising students who used visual storytelling as a medium to spread awareness. Apita Paul and Angshika Saha (B. Pharm 1st Semester) secured the First Prize, Arzoo Yadav and Reeta Paul (B. Pharm 1st Semester) received the Second Prize, and Kehi Pulu Khutiya Deori and Linsadaphira Khongkrom (D. Pharm 1st Semester) won the Third Prize for their outstanding contributions.

The event strongly emphasized the evolving responsibilities of pharmacists and reaffirmed the profession’s commitment to advancing community health through dedicated vaccination advocacy.
