Medical Laboratory Day Celebrated with Lectures, Competitions, and Cultural Events

Assam down town University celebrated Medical Laboratory Day on 23rd April 2025 with a series of engaging events organized by the Programme of Medical Laboratory Technology under the Faculty of Paramedical Sciences. 

Centered around the theme “Lab Saves Lives,” the celebration aimed to highlight the indispensable role of Medical Laboratory Technologists in diagnosing, monitoring, and treating diseases. The event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Narayan Chandra Talukdar, along with Dr. Dapkupar Wankhar, Dean of the Faculty of Paramedical Sciences, and Dr. Shila Singh Kumari Singh, Associate Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences. A key highlight was a special lecture by Dr. Anupam Sharma, M.D., Professor and Head of Onco-pathology at Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati, who provided profound insights into the evolving landscape of laboratory medicine. 

The day also featured an Interactive Scientific Poster Competition, encouraging students to showcase their research and innovative ideas, followed by a vibrant cultural program celebrating unity and collaboration. The event was marked by enthusiastic participation and left an impact, especially through Dr. Sharma’s address which inspired students to take pride in their profession and strive for excellence in laboratory science.
