The NSS Unit of Assam down town University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, organized a Maternal Health Awareness Program titled “Her Strength, Our Support” to commemorate Post Mother’s Day.
A dedicated team of eight physiotherapy students, accompanied by Dr. Dr Shalaka Baidya (PT) and Dr. Dr. Moitrayee Devi (Ph.D), visited the old age home and interacted warmly with the residents. The session focused on educating participants about maternal care, physical and mental well-being, healthy lifestyle habits, and the role of physiotherapy in preserving mobility and independence among elderly women.
The students conducted engaging interactive sessions and demonstrated simple physiotherapy exercises aimed at improving posture, flexibility, joint mobility, and overall health. The residents actively participated in the activities and shared their experiences, making the interaction both meaningful and emotionally enriching.
The team also emphasized the significance of compassion, respect, and emotional support for mothers and elderly women in society. The visit encouraged social responsibility, empathy, and community engagement among the students while bringing happiness and encouragement to the residents. Carrying a powerful message of dignity, care, and women’s health awareness, the initiative became a memorable tribute to motherhood and womanhood through service and compassion.
