Assam down town University successfully organised Through Your Lens – Photography Competition as part of LUMOS 2026 under the Techno Management Fest 2026, organised by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the competition was coordinated by Ms. Lucie Boro and Dr. Shilu Singha, with 17 participants from different universities showcasing their photographic creativity.

Centred around the theme “Borrowed Earth: One Planet. One Responsibility. Generations to Come,” the competition encouraged participants to capture the beauty of nature, reflect on the impact of human activities on the environment, and communicate their vision of a sustainable future through photography. With a prize pool worth Rs.10,000, the event provided an engaging platform for budding photographers to express their perspectives through visual storytelling.

As part of the competition, each participant submitted a printed A4 photograph accompanied by the photographer's name, a title and a brief artist's statement. The photographs were displayed at the venue, allowing participants to explain the ideas and messages behind their work to the judges. Entries were evaluated based on originality, creativity, composition, thematic relevance and the strength of the message conveyed, following which the winner was announced.

The photographs presented diverse interpretations of the theme, highlighting everything from the natural beauty of the planet to the environmental consequences of human actions. The accompanying artist's statements further enriched the presentations, offering insights into the thoughts and stories behind each frame.

The competition successfully brought together creativity and environmental consciousness, encouraging students to view photography as more than an artistic expression.
