Assam down town University, through its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully organized a Workshop on “Climate Education and Action”, with the objective of enhancing awareness and understanding of climate change while encouraging participants to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives and institutional environments. 

The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Ananta Choudhury, Director, IQAC, and Dr. Dr Anup Basistha, Ph D, Deputy Director, IQAC, followed by an address from Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Prof Pranveer Singh PhD (IITK) FIE FSED Disruptive Learning Innovator, who emphasized the importance of climate education in fostering responsible and environmentally conscious individuals capable of driving positive change. The technical sessions were facilitated by expert resource persons, Mr. Manan Aggarwal (Climate Fresk India, HES2i), Ms. Aishika Chakraborty, and Ms. Rachana Das (The Rebalance Institute), who delivered structured learning experiences aimed at building both scientific knowledge and actionable strategies. 

The key focus areas included the foundations of climate science, offering insights into greenhouse gases, radiative forcing, and global warming pathways, along with the localized impacts of climate change such as heat stress, water scarcity, and extreme weather events. Participants also took part in a Climate Fresk group activity designed to strengthen systems thinking by mapping cause–effect chains and recognizing critical feedback loops affecting environmental and social systems. The workshop further incorporated interactive methodologies, expert inputs, and breakout planning sessions where participants collaboratively developed sustainable action ideas with defined objectives and accountability measures. 

With this initiative, Assam down town University reaffirms its dedication to empowering the community with climate resilience knowledge and driving sustainable practices for a greener future.
