International Nurses Day 2025 Celebrated with Two-Day Event Honoring Nurses and Exploring the Future of Nursing

Assam down town University, through its Faculty of Nursing, proudly celebrated International Nurses Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and reverence, organizing a vibrant two-day program to honor the dedication, compassion, and vital role of nurses in shaping the healthcare landscape. 

The celebration began on 13th May 2025 with a spirited Quiz Competition held at the 6th Floor Auditorium-3, where students enthusiastically showcased their knowledge and team spirit. The main event, held on 14th May, commenced with an Inaugural Session, marked by a solemn prayer for brave soldiers and a warm welcome address by Ms. Yamanika Ande Irom, Lecturer, Faculty of Nursing. 

The formal inauguration of the event’s theme, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for Nurses strengthens economies.” was delivered by Prof (Dr)Manashi Sengupta , Dean, Faculty of Nursing, whose insightful address highlighted the essential role nurses play in the healthcare system and the relevance of this year’s theme in the global context. A compelling presentation by Ms. Ms. Nishamoni Baishya, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Nursing, paid tribute to the heroic contributions of nurses worldwide. The presence of Dr. Pratap Chandra Sarma, Chairperson, Faculty of Paramedical Science, further inspired faculty and students with his encouraging words. A thought-provoking panel discussion delved into the theme, followed by a Debate Competition on the engaging topic: "Can artificial intelligence replace nursing responsibilities?" 

The celebration concluded with a Prize Distribution Ceremony, appreciating winners and participants, and a heartfelt Appreciation Moment acknowledging the relentless contributions of the nursing faculty. 

This two-day celebration not only spotlighted the indispensable role of nurses but also encouraged meaningful dialogue on the evolving future of nursing in a rapidly advancing world.
