Assam down town University, through its Outreach and Extension Committee in collaboration with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS), organised an outreach program at Matri Niwas Old Age Home to commemorate the International Day of Older Persons. 

Coordinated by Dr. Krishnakhi Choudhury and Dr. Shyam Choudhury, the program featured a short cultural program, meaningful interactions, and a basic health check-up supported by students of the Faculty of Allied Health Care Sciences, who assessed the residents’ blood pressure, body temperature, and pulse rate. 

The initiative brought together 76 beneficiaries, 22 students, and 2 faculty members, fostering a warm and engaging atmosphere through conversations and interactive activities. Refreshments were also distributed as a gesture of care and goodwill. 

The program highlighted the importance of empathy, dignity, social responsibility, and community engagement in promoting the well-being of older persons.
