Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Assam down town University, successfully organized an insightful workshop on “Role of Semiconductor in AI” 

The session was delivered by Dr. Alak Majumder (SMIEEE), Assistant Professor, Department of ECE, NIT Arunachal Pradesh, who provided an in-depth understanding of how semiconductor technologies form the backbone of modern Artificial Intelligence systems. From processors, GPUs, and AI accelerators to neuromorphic computing and System-on-Chip (SoC) innovations, the workshop highlighted the powerful synergy between AI algorithms and advanced chip architectures.

Participants explored how semiconductor-driven advancements are transforming healthcare, autonomous systems, IoT ecosystems, and intelligent communication networks bridging the gap between AI theory and real-world hardware implementation.
The interactive session also opened discussions on research opportunities, industry trends, and interdisciplinary career pathways in AI and semiconductor engineering.

Organized under the leadership of Dr. Aniruddha Deka, Dean (i/c), FoCT, and convened by Dr. Tasher Ali Sheikh with co-conveners Meghna Saikia & Namrata Das, the workshop reaffirmed Assam down town University’s commitment to innovation-driven learning and research excellence.
