Assam down town University continues to strengthen its focus on experiential learning by organizing industry exposure visits for its students. As part of this initiative, students from the discipline of Hospitality and Tourism Management under the Faculty of Commerce & Management participated in an educational visit to Mayfair Spring Valley Resort, Sonapur.
The visit included students from BHMCT, DHM, BBA (Travel & Tourism), and Master’s in Travel & Tourism programs, reflecting the university’s commitment to providing practical, hands-on learning opportunities across programs. The primary aim was to expose students to real-world hospitality operations, service standards, and industry practices beyond the classroom.
During the visit, students gained first-hand experience of key operational departments such as front office, housekeeping, food and beverage services, and overall resort management. Interactions with industry professionals enabled them to understand current trends, customer expectations, and diverse career pathways within the hospitality and tourism sector.
Faculty coordinators highlighted the significance of such industry exposure trips in bridging the gap between academic learning and professional requirements, ensuring students are better prepared for the evolving job market. The management of Mayfair Spring Valley Resort extended their cooperation by facilitating the visit and sharing valuable industry insights.
