First Edition of Innovation Mela Brings Together 22 Teams and 100+ Students to Showcase Innovative Solutions

Assam down town University successfully organised the first edition of the AdtU Innovation Mela, led by the Directorate of Innovation, Startup and Acceleration (DISA). 

Designed as a monthly hackathon initiative, the Innovation Mela provides students with a platform to identify real-world challenges, develop innovative solutions and demonstrate their ideas through prototypes, products, applications, models and other tangible outcomes. For its inaugural edition, eight problem statements covering technology, healthcare, safety, sustainability, education and social innovation were released, giving students one month to conceptualise, develop and present their solutions. 

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 22 teams comprising over 100 students from various Faculties of Studies, highlighting the interdisciplinary spirit of the initiative. The participating teams showcased their innovative solutions and prototypes before an expert evaluation panel comprising Dr. Manash J Borah, Dean, Faculty of Engineering; Dr. Daisy Sharma, Associate Professor, Faculty of Science; Mr. Baharul Islam, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering; Mr. Pranjal Kumar Sarmah, Associate Director (i/c), Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Mr. SANJIB CHAMUAH, Assistant Manager, DISA; Mr. Dave Gogoi, Tech Support Associate, iTBI, down town Venture Labs (dtVL); and Mr. Bishnu Prakash Medhi, Business Development Associate, iTBI, down town Venture Labs (dtVL). 

The successful first edition marks an important step towards fostering a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, problem-solving and interdisciplinary collaboration at AdtU, with promising student innovations having the potential to receive further mentorship, incubation, IPR support and funding assistance through DISA and down town Venture Labs.
