The Faculty of Nursing in collaboration with Sankar Madhab School of Nursing organized National Deworming Day at the Anganwadi Health Centre, Bonda, on 10th February 2026. The programme focused on mass drug administration to eliminate intestinal worms, reduce malnutrition and anemia, enhance school attendance, and promote community awareness regarding hygiene practices, safe drinking water, and proper sanitation to prevent worm infestation.
The event commenced with the unveiling of the theme “Kirmi Mukt Bharat” by Ms. Lakhimi Gogoi, Principal of Sankar Madhab School of Nursing. A role play was presented by Auxiliary Nurse Midwives to demonstrate the risk factors associated with worm infestation. This was followed by an informative session conducted by MSc Nursing students from the Department of Community Health Nursing, who discussed the signs and symptoms, preventive strategies, and proper drug administration related to worm infestation.
The programme witnessed active participation from Anganwadi worker Ms. Bharti Boro, ASHA workers, around 35 parents, and 20 children. The organizing team effectively addressed participants’ questions, particularly those concerning drug administration and the adverse effects of worm infestation.
