World Suicide Prevention Day Observance at Assam down town University.
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Assam down town University, organized an impactful session on suicide prevention, featuring Dr. Mythili Hazarika as Guest Speaker. She was felicitated with a Gamocha and a memento by Dr. Prateeti Barman (she/her), Dean (i/c), Humanities and Social Sciences.
Dr. Hazarika emphasized the crucial role each individual can play in identifying signs of suicidal ideation and extending timely support. The session, attended by over 225 students and faculty members, included a thought-provoking address, real-life case studies, data insights, and a Q&A interaction.
The event also featured a Poster Competition with 20 participants, where the winners were:
1st Prize – Chitrajyoti Panegan
2nd Prize – Pahari Borah
3rd Prize – Upashna Kalita
The session fostered awareness, encouraged proactive intervention, and reinforced the collective responsibility to prevent suicide and promote mental well-being.
