Expert Talk on National Nutrition Month 2026 Highlights Community Participation and Collective Responsibility for Better Nutrition

Assam down town University organized an Expert Talk on the occasion of National Nutrition Month 2026, hosted by the Programme of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics, Faculty of Science, coordinated by Dr. Radali Duarah, Dr. Daisy Sharma and Dr. Jasmin Islam. 

The session featured Ms. Gitashree Phukan, Lead, Nutrition at Vijayavahini Charitable Foundation, who shared valuable insights on this year’s theme, “Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Jimmedari.”

The session highlighted the importance of collective responsibility and community participation in promoting nutrition, health, childcare and early childhood development. Ms. Phukan encouraged students to become active ambassadors of healthy dietary practices within their families and communities, while emphasizing the role of academic institutions in driving nutrition education, awareness, outreach and meaningful community engagement.

The insightful talk was followed by an engaging Q&A session, providing students with an opportunity to connect academic learning with real-world nutrition priorities and community action.

The program concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening nutrition awareness and contributing towards a healthier and better-nourished society.
