Assam down town University organised the Toothpick Tower Competition as part of Ecclesia 2026 under the Techno Management Fest 2026. The competition provided students with an opportunity to apply engineering concepts through the design and construction of lightweight tower structures using toothpicks, glue and thermocol components.

The event witnessed registrations from 20 teams, with three participants in each team. Participants were challenged to construct free-standing towers within a stipulated time, demonstrating their understanding of structural stability, strength, geometry, load distribution and material utilisation. 

Following the construction phase, the towers underwent evaluation on a vibrating platform to assess their ability to withstand varying levels of vibration while maintaining structural integrity. The performance was measured using the added weight-to-self-weight ratio, providing an opportunity to understand the strength and efficiency of each structure under testing conditions.

Coordinated by Dr. Arghya Ghosh, the competition encouraged hands-on learning, teamwork, innovation and practical problem-solving beyond the conventional classroom environment.
