down town Venture Labs (dtVL) successfully organised the dtVL Ideathon 2026 at Assam down town University, under the NIDHI iTBI Programme, Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, in collaboration with the E-Cell, Assam down town University.

Designed as a platform for students, research scholars, startups, and independent innovators, the Ideathon challenged participants to develop impactful solutions across ICT, Agriculture, Healthcare, Sustainability, Urbanization, Tourism, and Sectors of National Importance. The two-round competition featured an idea screening followed by final presentations before an expert jury.

The event witnessed 60 registered teams, with 45 teams presenting their ideas and 14 teams advancing to the final round. Participants came from leading institutions including GIMT, Assam Don Bosco University, Gauhati University, Assam Engineering College, Dhemaji Engineering College, Royal Global University, and Assam down town University, making it a vibrant platform for cross-institutional innovation.

The expert jury comprised Mr. Sanjeev Sarma Founder & Chief Software Architect, Webx Technologies, and Mr. Biswajit Hazarika, Managing Director, Trans Virtual Pvt. Ltd. The winners were Team Bharatdigicom (Assam down town University) with the First Prize of Rs.20,000, Team Aade Energy (Assam Don Bosco University & NEF Law College) with the Second Prize of Rs.15,000, and Team Nexus Realm (Dhemaji Engineering College) with the Third Prize of Rs.10,000.

The event concluded with remarks by Mr. Pranjal Kumar Sarmah, Associate Director (i/c), Entrepreneurship and Incubation, who appreciated the participants for their enthusiasm, creativity, and courage to pursue innovative ideas. 

The successful event was further strengthened by the dedicated support of the E-Cell members and volunteers of Assam down town University.
