Assam down town University takes immense pride in celebrating the achievements of Dr. Pompy Patowary, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, and Mr. Pervej Alom B., ICMR-Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical), who represented the University at the prestigious 4th World Congress on Pharmacology, organised by BioGenesis Health Cluster at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, on 20 September 2026.
The congress brought together leading researchers and experts from across the globe, featuring 39 keynote lectures and 137 poster presentations, with sessions chaired by distinguished national and international experts, including Prof. Laura Itzhaki from the University of Cambridge.
Dr. Pompy Patowary presented research conducted at AdtU’s Centre for Research on Ethnomedicine (CREM) Laboratory, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, titled “Exploring the Potential of Citrus macroptera Montrouz Fruit Peels Essential Oil Against Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease.”
Adding to this proud achievement, Mr. Pervej Alom Barbhuiya received the prestigious Young Scientist Award for his ongoing ICMR-funded research at CREM Laboratory. His presentation, titled “Eucalyptol from Zanthoxylum khasianum Hook.f. Ameliorates MASLD by Modulation of Inflammatory and Lipogenesis Pathways,” explores the potential of natural products in identifying novel drug molecules targeting Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD). The research is being carried out under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Manash Pratim Pathak.
The congress offered valuable insights into cancer pathophysiology, drug repurposing, and oncology diagnostics through expert-led sessions. It also opened avenues for future research collaborations with scientists from leading institutions across India, featuring speakers such as Dr. Nagraj G. Huligol, Consultant in Radiation Oncology at Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mumbai, and Dr. Ajit K. Saxena, Head of Pathology/Laboratory Medicine at AIIMS Patna.
Congratulations to Dr. Pompy Patowary, Mr. Pervej Alom Barbhuiya, and their research team on this significant achievement!
