The 6th Ayodhana International FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2024 was held from July 9th to 14th at Assam down town University. Organized by the Chess Players' Parents Forum, Guwahati, AdtU supported the tournament by providing the venue.
This multi-generational event welcomed 284 participants, including chess enthusiasts from across India, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Tripura, and more, alongside two players from the United States. The closing ceremony was graced by dignitaries such as Dr. Narendra Nath Dutta, Chancellor of AdtU, and Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Pranvir Singh PhD (IITK) FIE FSED Seasoned HEI Leader-Learning from learners. The tournament concluded with Dhrupad Kashyap of Assam winning first place with 8.5 points and receiving Rs 50,000. Umashankar A of Puducherry secured second place, and Kushal O of Andhra Pradesh, tied with Anup Shankar R of Tamil Nadu at 7.5 points, took third place based on tie-break scores, with awards of Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. In the women's category, Ayushree Sarkar of West Bengal was the best player, followed by Dipnalisha Borah and Ikshita Barman of Assam in second and third places, respectively.
