On 5 November 2025, the city paid heartfelt tribute to the legendary Dr. Bhupen Hazarika on his death anniversary, with commemorations held at both Bhupen Hazarika Sampriti Khetra and Latashil. The atmosphere was charged with emotion as a large gathering of admirers, cultural enthusiasts, and well-wishers came together to celebrate the lasting legacy of the “Bard of the Brahmaputra.”

A poignant highlight of the event was the collective rendition of the timeless humanitarian anthem “Manuhe Manuhor Babe.” Voices young and old blended in unison, creating a powerful moment that reflected Dr. Hazarika’s enduring message of unity, compassion, and social harmony.

Students from the Programme of Performing Arts, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, added grace and cultural depth to the ceremony. Guided by their faculty mentors Ms. Pankhi Kashyap and Mr. Hirak Jyoti Das, Assistant Professors in Performing Arts, the students actively participated in the musical tribute, honouring the maestro through song and presence.

The students also had the privilege of interacting with and capturing memorable photographs alongside Shri Bimal Borah, Hon’ble Minister of Industries, Commerce and PE Department, who graced the occasion with his presence. His interaction with the young performers added significance to the day, reflecting the state’s continued support for art, culture, and youth participation.
