Blood Donation Camp Sees 100+ Donors, Promotes Awareness and Community Service

Assam down town University, through its Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science and NSS Unit, in collaboration with the Assam State Blood Transfusion Council (ASBTC), successfully organized a Blood Donation Camp on 8th April 2025. 

The initiative was aimed at raising awareness about the importance of blood donation and addressing the urgent demand for blood in local healthcare facilities. Over 100 enthusiastic donors, including students, faculty, and staff, came forward to contribute, reflecting the university’s deep-rooted commitment to social responsibility and community service.

The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Saikat Sen, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, who lauded the effort and emphasized the need for more such life-saving initiatives. This was followed by a heartfelt felicitation of the medical team by Dr. Manash Sarma, Dean of the Faculty of Science, in recognition of their service.

Dr. Nilay Talukdar, Medical Officer from ASBTC, conducted an informative session highlighting the health benefits of blood donation and debunking common myths, which further encouraged participation and awareness. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Moitrayee Devi, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Paramedical Science, underscoring the importance of continued collaboration for impactful community health drives.

The entire event was smoothly coordinated and supervised by Mr. Satyabrat Sarma, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, and Dr. Debasis Bora from the Faculty of Science, ensuring the program’s success and meaningful outreach.
