Biotechnology master's students from Assam down town University visit Purabi Dairy, exploring fermentation technology and dairy processes

Masters students from the Biotechnology program at the Faculty of Science, Assam down town University, had an enriching industrial visit to Purabi Dairy, Panjabari, on October 25, 2024, as part of their course on Fermentation Technology. Accompanied by Dr. Dr. Devabrata Saikia and Dr. Biswa Prasun Chatterji, the students received a warm welcome from Purabi Dairy's team, gaining insights into the milk procurement process, product testing, packaging, and distribution, along with an overview of West Assam Milk Producers' Co-operative Union Ltd. (WAMUL).

Guided by Pallav Deka and Pranay Sarkar, the group explored the manufacturing processes of milk, ice cream, curd, paneer, and more, along with understanding challenges and sustainable practices in the dairy industry. The visit concluded with an engaging Q&A session, providing students a comprehensive look at the cooperative’s farmer-first philosophy and industry transparency.
