Students of the 3rd and 5th Semester, Bachelor of Design, Faculty of Engineering, Assam down town University, visited NEDFi House, Guwahati, on the occasion of the 18th World Bamboo Day 2026, themed “Bamboo Beyond Borders.”

The visit offered students a glimpse into how bamboo is being explored through product design, interiors, architecture and sustainable innovation. Interacting with designers and entrepreneurs, they discovered new possibilities of working with both traditional bamboo and modern bamboo composites.

A highlight of the visit was exploring bamboo applications in spaces such as Guwahati Airport, helping students understand how a familiar local material can take on new forms and applications.

Accompanied by Hari Brat Saikia, Assistant Professor, AdtU the students also had the opportunity to see two of his bamboo-based products showcased at the exhibition a simple yet meaningful connection between classroom learning and real-world design practice.
