Assam down town University Students shine at North East International Fashion Week!
Assam down town University proudly participated in the North East International Fashion Week, held on January 31 and February 1, 2025, at Luitgarh, Railway Officers’ Club. Organized by renowned fashion designer Prashantt Ghosh, the event centered around the theme “Style with Purpose: Redefining Fashion, Sustaining the Future”, highlighting the importance of slow fashion, sustainable materials, and user engagement in design.
Our university's first-year Bachelor of Design students, supported by the Centre for Design Excellence, played a key role in the event. Their contributions spanned multiple disciplines, Interior and Product Design students created murals and installations, UX & Communication Design students developed event signage and posters, and Fashion and Textile Design students designed two outfits, one for men and one for women, showcasing sustainability-driven fashion.
The initiative was led by Fashion Instructor Hiya Moran and Campus Manager Arnab Mazumdar, with valuable support from Vishnu K Suresh (Assistant Professor & Program Coordinator) and Dr. T V V L N Rao, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AdtU. Further strengthening the university’s commitment to sustainability, Nature’s Orbit, founded by Debrata Rajkumar, extended its support to the event.
Prior to the showcase, Prashantt Ghosh visited the university campus to review and provide feedback on students' designs, enhancing their creative process and industry exposure. Assam down town University ensured a seamless and enriching experience for its students at this prestigious event, fostering a strong connection between education, fashion, and sustainability.
