Assam down town University Hosts Lecture on Antimicrobial Peptides as Future Drugs

Assam down town University hosted an invited lecture on “Antimicrobial Peptides as Future Drugs”, organized by the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science. 

The inaugural session began with an introduction of Dr. PRAKASH KISHORE HAZAM by Ms. Ireenia Warjri Warjiri, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, followed by the felicitation of the guest. Dr. Saikat Sen, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, then delivered a speech, highlighting the importance of peptides in antibiotic drug discovery and the role of curiosity in driving scientific advancements. 

The keynote address was presented by Dr. Prakash Kishore Hazam, a post-doctoral fellow at Academia Sinica, Yilan County, Taiwan. His talk, titled "Design and Development of Peptide-Based Antibiotics to Treat Infections Caused by Multidrug-Resistant Pathogens," provided insights from his research on peptide molecules aimed at combating pathogens. The session included an interactive Q&A, where students and faculty members raised various queries, including inquiries into Dr. Hazam’s journey from being a pharmacist to a post-doctoral fellow.
