Assam down town University successfully hosted the AI for Atmanirbhar Bharat: HEI Pre-Summit Engagement 2026, aligned with the vision and outcomes of the India-AI Impact Summit 2026.

The program was organized by the Faculty of Computer Technology in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). The event was convened by DR. TASHER ALI SHEIKH and Ms. Namrata Das, with the inaugural and welcome address delivered by Dr. Tasher Ali Sheikh, under the leadership of Dr. Aniruddha Deka, Dean (i/c), and Dr. Debashis Misra, Associate Dean, FoCT.

The engagement featured four key segments, an AI expert session, Hackathon, Hands-on Workshop on AI tools, and Poster Presentations, drawing enthusiastic participation from nearly 358 students. The program was enriched by addresses from Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Narayan Chandra Talukdar, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Pranveer Singh PhD (IITK) FIE FSED Disruptive Learning Innovator, Prof. Dharmeswar Das, Chairman & Executive Director (Research), and Prof. Sunandan Baruah Baruah, DISA.

Technical sessions were led by Dr Nayan Basumatary, Founder & CEO, Xantra AI Pvt. Ltd., and Mr. Debjyoti Ghosh, Planning & Business Development Manager, Larsen & Toubro. The hands-on workshop conducted by Mr. Mukut Sarma provided practical exposure to emerging AI tools. 

The event concluded with the announcement of winners of the Hackathon and Poster Presentation competitions, with e-certificates and cash prizes awarded in recognition of innovation and excellence.
