






Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technology at Assam down town University conducted a hands-on practical session on Food Preservation and Value Addition. Held in the Food Nutrition & Dietetics (FND) laboratory, the event served as a dynamic platform for interdisciplinary learning among agriculture students.
Under the guidance of Dr. Karishma Borah and Dr. N. Kapaini Basena, Assistant Professor, FnD 6th-semester B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture students gained practical exposure to essential post-harvest techniques. During the session, students successfully prepared products such as apple jam, apple sauce, stuffed chilli pickle, and ginger candy, while learning the effective use of natural preservatives like sugar, salt, and oil.
The session concluded with a visit from Dr. Radali Duarah, who evaluated the prepared products, appreciated the students’ efforts, and commended their technical skills. Overall, the initiative proved to be a successful collaboration, effectively bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world industrial application.
