Assam down town University, through its Faculty of Science, had the privilege of hosting Prof. (Dr.) Shanta Laishram, Professor at ISI Delhi, for an insightful scientific talk on “Number Theory and Cryptography, The Science of Secure Communications.”

Dr. Laishram illustrated the complexity of ciphers and encryption using real-world examples, including the RSA-240 algorithm, demonstrating how number theory plays a pivotal role in cybersecurity. He further elaborated on Prime Numbers, Fermat’s Little Theorem, and Euler’s Theorem, highlighting their significance in encryption and decryption processes that even governments find challenging to decode.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Biswa Prasun Chatterji, who expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for facilitating the session and to the Dean of the Faculty of Science for organizing this enlightening discussion.
