Assam down town University successfully hosted an impactful Anti-Ragging Awareness Talk titled “Ragging: A Crime, Not a Tradition – Legal Consequences and Student Responsibilities”. The session was led by Flying Officer Panchanan Barman, Assistant Professor at Guwahati Commerce College and a strong advocate for student rights and campus safety.
Organized by Dr. Sangita Boro, Member Secretary of the Anti-Ragging Cell, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the session aimed to educate students on the serious legal repercussions of ragging and the critical role each individual plays in maintaining a respectful and inclusive academic atmosphere.
With around 200 students in attendance, the talk encouraged open dialogue, awareness, and accountability, especially during the interactive Q&A segment. The event reinforced Assam down town University’s strong commitment to a zero-tolerance policy on ragging and its ongoing efforts to ensure a safe and welcoming campus for all.
