AdtU FDP Day 3 Highlights Palynology and Hands-On Training in Modern Plant Taxonomy

Assam down town University successfully conducted the third day of its Faculty Development Program (FDP), organized by the Programme of Botany, under the theme “Integrative Approach to Plant Taxonomy – Hands-on Training from Field Work to Modern Trends in Taxonomy”.

Day three featured an insightful keynote by Prof. (Dr.) Nilakshee Devi from the Department of Botany, Gauhati University. Felicitated by Dr. Gunamoni Das, Assistant Professor at AdtU, Dr. Devi introduced participants to the fundamentals of Palynology and its key branches, including Aeropalynology, Melissopalynology, Paleopalynology, and Forensic Palynology, each contributing unique perspectives to the study of plant taxonomy.

The session continued with a hands-on training workshop on pollen slide preparation, enriching participants’ practical skills. The day concluded on a high note, marking another step forward in strengthening knowledge and technical expertise in modern taxonomy.
