Academic and Cultural Programme Celebrates Indigenous Heritage, Traditional Knowledge and Cultural Narratives

On the occasion of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, Assam down town University was represented at a special academic and cultural programme organised by the Department of Anthropology, Gauhati University, in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

Prof. (Dr.) Bandana Dutta, Dean of Studies, AdtU, was invited as a speaker for the occasion, contributing to the academic discourse around indigenous communities, heritage and traditional knowledge.

Dr. Shyam Choudhury, Assistant Professor, Programme of Sociology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, had the honour of presenting the award-winning documentary Wangala before the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Head and faculty members of the Department of Anthropology, distinguished dignitaries, and representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

The programme provided a meaningful platform for academic exchange and cultural engagement, celebrating indigenous heritage, identity and traditional knowledge while highlighting the importance of preserving and documenting diverse cultural narratives.
