80th Independence Day Celebrations Marked by Patriotic Fervour, March Past, Cultural Performances and Tribute to Kanaklata Barua

Assam down town University celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with great pride and patriotic fervour. 

The celebrations, organised and hosted by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, commenced with a ceremonial Guard of Honour for Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. N.C. Talukdar, followed by the soulful rendition of Vande Mataram, the unfurling of the National Flag and the singing of the National Anthem.

The occasion brought together faculty members, administrative staff, security personnel and students in a celebration of the nation’s freedom and the values of unity, discipline and service. The spirit of patriotism continued with the March Past Competition, featuring contingents from the AdtU Security Team, various Faculties of Studies and the AdtU NCC Unit, showcasing remarkable discipline, coordination and team spirit.

The spirit of India came alive through music, dance and powerful storytelling at Assam down town University’s 80th Independence Day celebrations.

The cultural segment featured a vibrant array of patriotic songs and expressive dance performances that filled the occasion with pride and emotion. One of the most moving highlights was a poignant dramatic presentation portraying the life and sacrifice of Kanaklata Barua, the legendary freedom fighter from Assam. 

Her courage and devotion to the nation were brought alive on stage, leaving the audience deeply moved and reminding everyone of the countless sacrifices that shaped our freedom.
