AdtU Celebrates National Librarians' Day with Honorable Guests and Insightful Speeches

Assam down town University held a memorable celebration for National Librarians’ Day.

The event started with the Honorable Chancellor, Dr. Narendra Nath Dutta, offering a warm welcome to all distinguished guests. In his address, the Chancellor paid homage to the late Padmashree S. R. Ranganathan, whose contributions to the field of library science are deeply revered. Dr. Rubi Goswami, librarian, AdtU, provided an insightful overview of the event’s significance, emphasizing the pivotal role libraries play in society.

The ceremonial lamp lighting followed, performed by the Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor, the chief speaker, the chief guest, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, the Dean of Studies, and other esteemed dignitaries. The core of the celebration featured Dr. Pori Hiloidari as the chief speaker. Dr. Hiloidari’s presentation highlighted the diverse functions of libraries, from fostering a love for reading to supporting lifelong learning and community engagement. The chief guest, Dr. Swapna Dutta Deka, focused on the transformative impact of libraries on society, discussing their role in promoting access to information, supporting intellectual development, and enhancing community well-being.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Utpal Dutta, Professor of Practice at AdtU. Mr. Dutta expressed gratitude to all the participants, speakers, and attendees for their valuable contributions to the event, acknowledging the collective effort in celebrating and reinforcing the importance of libraries.
