Nursing is an integral part of the health care system. It encompasses the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and care of physically ill, mentally ill, and disabled people of all ages, in all health care and other community settings. With the vision of forwarding compassionate holistic patient care, Sankar Madhab College of Nursing, a renowned Nursing Institute of down town charity trust has been established in the year of 2008 starting with the B.Sc. Nursing programme. It is affiliated to Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, and Assam down town University, Guwahati Assam, recognized by Indian Nursing Council and Assam Nurses’ Midwives & Health Visitors Council. Subsequently Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, GNM and ANM courses had been added in the year of 2010 and 2011.The Nursing school was further strengthened by adding the M.Sc. Nursing program in the year of 2012.
Sankar Madhab College of Nursing has been renamed as the Faculty of Nursing under Assam down town University, effective from August 28th, 2017, following recognition and approval from the Indian Nursing Council. Currently, it offers B.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, and M.Sc. Nursing programs. The faculty is dedicated to providing comprehensive training and fostering the all-round development of nursing students, preparing them for the challenges of the demanding healthcare industry and allied services. The curriculum includes classroom teaching, internships, hospital visits, projects, seminars, and dissertations. Beyond academics, the faculty provides various opportunities to hone individual talents for all-inclusive training.
