The ANM curriculum prepares the students to function at the community level/village with specific skills to fulfill the health needs of the community.

Students of Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery will apply their knowledge to provide nursing care to individuals, families, and communities. They will do so by following the steps of the nursing process, working in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.

Develop an understanding of holistic health and grasp the impact of socio-economic and environmental factors on the health of the community.

Develop the ability to offer expert midwifery care to all mothers in the community and develop the skills to refer mothers who are at risk to the hospital.
Develop the capacity to deliver competent care to all newborns in the community and develop the expertise to refer newborns who are at risk to the appropriate levels of care.
Acquire knowledge to guide/train birth attendants, Anganwadi workers (AW\Y)s, other community health activists, and volunteers.
Impart need-based information and counselling related to the health of individuals, families, and groups.
Develop a participatory role in all the National Health and Family welfare programs in the community level.
Develop the capability to oversee the management of the health center, including equipment and supplies, and cultivate the practice of keeping accurate records to deliver quality, people-friendly services.

It will help the students to learn in maintaining records and reports in various health sectors.

Course Overview

This course is designed to help students in understanding reproductive organs, process of normal delivery, care to pregnant mother during ante, intra and post natal period, identifying high risk pregnancies, referral services, and participate in reproductive health and family welfare programs.
