Dr. Narendra Nath Dutta

Dr. Narendra Nath Dutta completed his MBBS from Gauhati Medical College in 1965, securing 2nd position in the University. In 1970, he earned his Master's Degree in ENT from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, where he stood first in his class. In 1981, Dr. Dutta was awarded the British Commonwealth Fellowship for higher studies in microsurgery in the UK. The following year, in 1982, he received the Fellowship of the International College of Surgeons. Dr. Dutta dedicated 14 years of service to Gauhati Medical College. His contributions were recognized in 2000 when he was bestowed the "Service Above Self" award by Rotary International. That same year, he was honoured with The Prof. Dukhan Ram Award at the XXIV Bihar State Conference of the Association of Otolaryngologists of India. In 2002, he received a Citation for Meritorious Service from the Rotary Foundation. He was also felicitated at the Annual General Meeting of the North East Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NECCI) on October 30, 2002, for his outstanding performance and exemplary service to society.

Mr. Joutishman Dutta

Joutishman Dutta is the Vice President of Assam down town University (AdtU) and the key force behind its growth and development. As a visionary leader, he has been instrumental in shaping AdtU into one of Northeast India’s leading private universities since its establishment in 2010. An alumnus of NMIMS and Delhi University, Mr. Dutta brings a strong foundation in business administration along with a progressive outlook on education. Under his leadership, the university has made significant strides in diverse sectors such as education, healthcare, livelihood, and infrastructure. His dedication to holistic, research-driven development continues to guide AdtU toward becoming a future-ready institution. Mr. Dutta’s dynamic leadership ensures that the university stays aligned with emerging global trends while maintaining a strong regional presence. As AdtU continues to grow in scope and scale, he remains actively engaged in strategic planning, innovation, and the pursuit of institutional excellence.

Vice Chancellor

Prof. (Dr.) Narayan Chandra Talukdar

Prof. (Dr.) N. C. Talukdar is the present Vice Chancellor of Assam down town University. A graduate in agriculture from Assam Agricultural University and a Post Graduate in Soil Chemistry from Punjab Agricultural University, he obtained PhD degree from the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada as Canadian Commonwealth Fellowship. He completed his first post-doctoral studies as a FAO fellow in The Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment under Hebrew University of Jerusalem and second post-doctoral as DBT, GOI Overseas Associate in rhizosphere community dynamics research from the University of Warwick, UK. He has worked in a number of academic and research institutions of the country in various teaching, research and extension positions. He has made notable contributions in relevant areas of higher education, as visiting professor, resource person, expert member, chairperson in various regional and national organisations.

Prof. Pranveer Singh
Pro Vice Chancellor

Prof. Pranveer Singh

Prof. Pranveer Singh, PhD (IIT Kanpur), is a distinguished academic leader with over 37 years of experience in higher education, research, and university governance. He has held senior leadership positions, including Pro Vice-Chancellor, Director-General, Executive Dean, and Dean (Academics) at leading Indian universities, driving institutional transformation, enhancing academic quality, and promoting research-led growth. His expertise covers academic governance, quality assurance, NEP-aligned outcome-based education (OBE), accreditation preparedness (NAAC/NBA/ABET), readiness for national and international rankings, and data-driven institutional improvement. Prof. Singh has served as an International Fellow of UNDP, an ICAR Junior Research Fellow at a Centre of Advanced Studies, an MHRD Research Fellow, and a Senior Research Fellow at premier Indian institutions, reflecting his sustained scholarly excellence. A prolific researcher and mentor, he has authored 220+ publications, holds five patents, and has supervised more than 85 doctoral and postgraduate theses. He has been instrumental in the strategic transformation of several universities, including VIT University, Vellore, supporting their progression toward national eminence, autonomous status, and IoE recognition; and continues to advance AdtU’s vision of excellence with regional impact and global outlook.

Dean of Studies

Prof. Bandana Dutta

Mrs. Bandana Dutta was a faculty of Cotton College, Guwahati for 35 years and retired as the HOD of the Department of Anthropology. She did MA in Social Anthropology from Cotton College and then obtained Diploma at the School of Oriental and African Studies from London University. She is an approved artist of Modern and devotional songs in All India Radio, Guwahati and Doordarshan Kendra. She is the past president of the Rotary Club of Guwahati and also the founder President of INCA in Guwahati.
