A Memorandum of Understanding between Assam down town University and North Eastern Tea Association was signed on 5th February, 2021 at Assam down town University campus for research and academic collaborations.

MoU Signed between AdtU and North Eastern Tea Association

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Dr. N.C Talukdar, Vice Chancellor for Assam down town University and Mr. Sunil Jallan, Chairman for North Eastern Tea Association. Through this MoU both the institutions agreed to undertake Research & Project works in Tea Research and emerging areas with local relevance by the students/scholars and faculty members of the College/University and organize Tea related National and International seminars, workshops, conference, symposiums and competitions from time to time. The tenure of the MoU will be for three years. The signing ceremony was started with a warm welcome speech by Dr. N.C Talukdar, Vice Chancellor who gave a brief appraisal of the University and the currently ongoing research activities, future programs and the scope of collaboration in research, innovation and outreach with NETA. He especially mentioned about the growth in the area of Pharmaceutical Science and life sciences in the North East Region. Mr. Sunil Jallan, Chairman, North Eastern Tea Association gave a brief presentation about the Association which was formed in 1981, with the objective of working for the all-round development and interest of the tea industry. Assessing both economic and techno viability along with MRL, he urged the young researchers of both the institutions to think creatively and to come up with a big and radical, innovative ideas which can be submitted in form of a project to extramural funding agencies.
Mr. Bidyananda Barkakoty, Adviser, North Eastern Tea Association expressed extreme happiness for building a new relationship between Adtu & NETA. He also spoke about various measures to be taken in promoting research, innovation and technology. He applauded Dr. N.N Dutta, Chancellor, Assam down town University for creating a positive environment for students, faculty and staff and building an excellent State of the Art infrastructure which educates students and prepare them to succeed in their careers and in life. He also spoke about developing a machine to detect pesticides in green leaves in collaboration with Assam down town University. Mr. Arnab Sarkar, Research Associate, AdtU presented about development of a low cost IoT based system for estimation and monitoring of pesticides content in fresh leaves.

AdtU signed a MoU with NECTAR, DST, Govt of India

The Memorandum of Understanding between Assam down town University and North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, Shillong, Meghalaya was signed on 19th November, 2020 at Assam down town University campus for the purpose of carrying on its operations of entrepreneurship development in North East Region through implementation and incubation technologies. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Dr. N.C Talukdar, Vice Chancellor for Assam down town University and Prof. Arun Kumar Sarma, Director General for North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR). Through the MoU, Assam down town University has agreed to develop organic sanitary napkins from bamboo fibre at Assam down town University and to provide space to the NECTAR for developing, implementing, executing, conducting, coordinating and carrying out CSR Activities and building Centre of Excellence.

Dr. N.N. Dutta (Chancellor) in his opening remarks thanked Prof. Arun Kumar Sarma, Director General, North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach for visiting the AdtU campus and other dignitaries of AdtU for attending the meeting. Dr. N.C Talukdar, Vice Chancellor thanked NECTAR for their open heartedness in collaborating with Assam down town University. He gave a brief overview of the University and currently ongoing research activities, diversity in academics program, future programs and also spoke about the scope of collaboration in research, innovation and outreach with NECTAR in the long days to come. Prof. Arun Kumar Sarma, Director General, North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach gave a brief appraisal about NECTAR and its different projects. He also discussed about the research activities and its various applications in the field of agriculture and fishery, uses of plasma technologies in various fields, physical processes for growth of plants, etc. Dr. N.N. Assam down town University and Agropostikam agree to develop collaborative research programs, undertake extension and training programs, including establishment of incubator facilities for
commercialization of technologies, in the areas of foods and beverages, Bio fertilizers and Bio pesticides, Unconventional processes for agricultural practices etc.
 
Assam down town University and North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation Ltd agrees to jointly undertake Research & Project works in emerging areas of agriculture and food processing with local relevance to be carried out by the students/scholars and faculty members of AdtU and exchange scientific and technical know-how and related expertise in expanding the modern cultivation methods, agricultural technologies. To collaborate and organize extension and outreach activities like socio-economic & welfare initiatives for rural communities in general and communities in the immediate surrounding of the AdtU campus. Assam down town University and Ram Electronics and Equipment, Guwahati will jointly undertake Research & Project works in Battery operated vehicles with local relevance by the students/scholars and faculty members of AdtU and Researchers/Technicians from Ram Electronics and Equipment, Guwahati.

The Memorandum of Understanding between Assam down town University and Guwahati Biotech Park was signed at the Commissionerate of Panchayat & Rural Development (CPRD) office, Guwahati on 12th October, 2020. Dr. N.C Talukdar, Vice Chancellor from Assam down town University’s side and Shri Hemen Das, IAS, Chief Executive Officer and First Appellate Authority from Guwahati Biotech Park, Govt. of Assam inked the MoU. According to Dr. B.G Unni, Adviser Research of Assam down town University, it was initiated by him during the year 2015 when Shri Vinod Sheshan IAS was the CEO of Guwahati Biotech park, and the MoU was signed in November 2015. The signing ceremony started with exchange of greetings between Shri Hemen Das, Chief Executive Officer, Guwahati Biotech Park, Govt. of Assam and Dr. N.C Talukdar, Vice Chancellor, Assam down town University. Following the signing of MoU, interactive meeting was held between Dr. N.C Talukdar, Vice Chancellor, Assam down town University and Shri Hemen Das, IAS who is also the Commissioner, Panchayat & Rural Development Department, Govt. of Assam during which possible collaborations between Assam down town University and Panchayat & Rural Development Department, Govt. of Assam to facilitate the development of rural areas of Chandrapur area was discussed. Dr. N.C Talukdar, Vice Chancellor, Assam down town University extended an invitation to Shri Hemen Das, Chief Executive Officer Guwahati Biotech Park along with the scientists/ researchers to visit Assam down town University for an interactive meeting so that both the institution can carry forward joint research in the areas pertaining to rural development.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 11th May, 2015 was due to expire, Assam down town University and CSIR-North Eastern Institute of Science & Technology, Jorhat have decided to continue their collaboration through a fresh MoU, which replaced the earlier MoU. The current Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Assam down town University and CSIR-North Eastern Institute of Science & Technology, Jorhat at the Conference Room, CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat on 16th June, 2020 to promote cooperation in scientific education and research between the two R&D Institutions/ University. Dr. N.N. Dutta, Chancellor from Assam down town University side and Dr. G Narahari Sastry, Director from CSIR-North Eastern Institute of Science & Technology Jorhat inked the MoU. The tenure of the MoU will be for five years (2020-2025). He spoke about various measures to be taken in promoting research, innovation and technology, not only because of its effect of an event on the economy in a specified area or to diversify our own industry and business, but also to develop a strong foothold to revolutionize medical and health care system and convert our research results into feasible products and services. The two Institutes/ Universities agreed to extend the collaborative agreement through utilization of each other’s strengths in teaching and research, which in turn, will mutually benefit the students and faculty and scientific members of both the organizations. He also urged the faculty members/ researchers of the two institutions to facilitate a) continued collaboration and partnerships on various projects that can benefit humanity b) To facilitate joint seeking of funds and conduct of research, submission of projects for research and development in the fields of mutual interest, exchange of visiting research scholars including advanced graduate students c) to facilitate faculty and staff development and exchange through training programmes, creation/development of new experimental and research/training facilities through mutual co-operation of CSIR-NEIST and Assam down town University through exchange of experts, etc and d) to jointly propose/organize short-term continuing education programs, trainings on topics of mutual interest and to invite researchers of both the institutions to participate therein. He also mentioned about various research/academic activities undertaken with CSIR-NEIST under the guidance of Dr. B G Unni, Adviser Research, AdtU and Former Chief Scientist, CSIR-NEIST and the management of the University in various sectors such as collaborative research projects, short term training for students of Assam down town University, visit of faculties from Assam down town University to CSIR-NEIST for hands on training for equipments etc, joint Ph.D guidance, publication of joint research papers etc since 2015. Assam down town University (AdtU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rotary Club of Guwahati in an auspicious function held at the Rotary Club of Guwahati on 18th December, 2018. The Rotary Club of Guwahati was established in the year 1955 (R.I.Dist. 3240). Dr. N.N. Dutta (Chancellor) from Assam down town University side and Rtn. A.N.N.I. Laskar, President, Rotary Club of Guwahati inked the MoU. The agreement will be in effect for five years from 18th December 2018. The signing ceremony was started with a warm welcome address by the President, Rotary Club of Guwahati who also presented an overview of the mission of the Rotary Foundation that is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. He also urged the faculty members/ officials of the two institutions to facilitate continued collaboration and partnerships on various projects that can benefit humanity. The two Institutes/ Universities agreed to enhance the collaborative agreement through conducting joint training programs, joint organization of International Workshops, Conferences, Seminars and Symposia focusing on Medical Technology development, development of teaching-learning and training materials for literacy programmes / adult literacy programme etc, Production and dissemination (including translation) of literature for adult education, Training literacy functionaries, undertaking motivational and environment building activities for adult education, conducting multimedia works, street play, street drama etc, Conducting health camps for the poor population who earns a lower income and cannot afford expensive healthcare services offered by hospitals or clinics, counseling adolescent and screening program, evaluating and monitoring of literacy projects and mathematical literacy etc and undertaking innovative projects to identify future need of literacy programmes.

Assam down town University (AdtU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with North East Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (NECHRI), Assam on 21st November 2018 in an auspicious function held at the Board Room, Assam down town University campus . Dr. N.N. Dutta (Chancellor) from Assam down town University side and Dr. M. N. Baruah, Managing Director, North East Cancer Hospital and Research Institute signed the MoU. The signing ceremony was started with a warm welcome address by Dr. N.N. Dutta, Chancellor who also presented an overview of the academic and research activities undertaken at Assam down town University. He also urged the researchers of the two institutions to develop solution in medical research that can benefit humanity.

Assam down town University (AdtU) signed an Agreement for collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati on 13th November, 2018 for Academic cooperation.

 

 

Assam down town University signed an Agreement for collaboration for academic cooperation between the two institutions on 13th November, 2018 in an auspicious function held at the Board Room, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. The agreement was signed by Dr. N.N. Dutta (Chancellor) for Assam down town University and Prof. Gautam Biswas (Director) for Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. The tenure of the agreement will be for five years .The two Institutes/ Universities agreed to enhance the collaborative agreement through a) to exchange information on research and educational programs, b) to exchange information on teaching, learning material and other literature relevant to their educational and research programs, c) to jointly propose/organize short-term continuing education programs, trainings on topics of mutual interest and to invite researchers of both the institutions to participate therein, and d) to exchange, on a reciprocal basis, researchers and students for limited periods of time for purpose of education and /or research.

Assam down town University signed Memorandum of Understanding on 28th December, 2017 with National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), New Delhi and National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Guwahati, Assam.


Assam down town University is one of the most dynamic and research driven Universities in the region. It has been running a start up accelerator for the last 3 to 4 years and is working with many local entrepreneurs to develop their ideas. It is only the second institute in the region next to IIT G to be recognized. It is because of this, that prestigious institutes like NRDC and NIPER wants to associate with us.
 
National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), DSIR, under Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi and National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Guwahati under Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India signed an MOU with Assam down town University. The Memorandum of Agreement/ Understanding between NRDC, NIPER with Assam down town University signed by Dr. H Purushotham, Chairman & Managing Director, National Research Development Corporation, New Delhi, Dr. U.S.N. Murty, Director, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Guwahati and Dr. N.N. Dutta, Chancellor, Assam down town University respectively. The signing ceremony at Assam down town University was initiated with a warm welcome speech by Dr. N.N. Dutta (Chancellor) Assam down town University, who described the overall  research and academic activities at Assam down town University, and said it will  further foster strong collaboration in scientific research with NRDC, New Delhi and NIPER Guwahati.. Dr. B G Unni (Director Research) gave a brief appraisal about the overview of research activities undertaken by the University, future program and also spoke about the scope of MOU with NRDC and NIPER with Assam down town University and down town Hospital for the long days to come. Dr. B G Unni also mentioned that the purpose of the MOU between NIPER with down town Hospital is to create a framework with specific objectives in the areas of clinical posting of Pharmacy practices in various departments of Assam down town University Hospital for practical and clinical exposure, dissertations work for the students for 6 – 10 months duration under able guidance of Doctors/ Qualified Clinicians from Hospitals . Therefore, the MoU with these institutions will provide a great help in scientific achievement to both the institutions i.e. Assam down town University and down town Hospital respectively. Followed by, innovative ideas/ technologies developed by the faculties of Assam down town University from different departments were also presented at the meeting. The entrepreneurs from various groups such as private and NGO based were also attended the function and had excellent interaction with the officials of NRDC and NIPER at the interactive session. Dr. H. Purushotham in his appreciation remarks, discussed about the value of patent information, tools and strategies for locating patents etc. In fact, this is the first time that National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), DSIR, under Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi is going to have first Memorandum of Agreement with a private University in the North East Region. He also talked about the role of NRDC at various stages for the commercialization of know-how/products/technologies developed at their laboratories. Apart from that, he also mentioned that the mutual agreement with NRDC will also provide expert services in the following areas such as IPR Management & Training, Techno – Commercial Evaluation of technology, linkage with research funding agencies for Assam down town University, linking to start up idea mission and incubation centre  etc. Dr. U.S.N. Murty in his remarks mentioned about the importance of MOU with Assam down town University, and said that MOU with NIPER will provide a significant collaboration with down town Hospital in terms of short term projects, training programs, visit and clinical exposure at different departments of down town Hospital, joint supervision of Post Graduate of different disciplines of down town Hospital and for dissertation work etc under the guidance of doctors from the hospital. In addition to this, the MOU will also benefit and  strengthen the collaboration with both the institutions. .Dr. Amarjyoti Choudhury, Vice Chancellor, Assam down town University in his concluding remarks thanked both the organizations for their keen interest to have MOU with Assam down town University, and also mentioned that such attempt enhance the individual growth of scientific capabilities of both the institutions such as Assam down town University and down town Hospital, thereby contributing a lot to the overall welfare of this region. Dr. H.K Das, Pro-Vice Chancellor attended the function and appreciated the keen interest shown by both NRDC and NIPER. According to Dr. B G Unni (Director Research, Assam down town University), the University has already got quite a number of MOU’s with reputed R&D institutions and Universities like CSIR- North East Institute of Science and Technology, Jorhat, Assam, Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology, Guwahati, Guwahati Biotech Park and Dr. B Borooah Cancer institute. The MOU with NRDC & NIPER, the University will be now able to help the young students and local entrepreneurs to develop and market their product nationally. We are sure that this step of Assam down town University will further help the local entrepreneurship culture in the region. We hope that we will help in supporting a few ideas in the next few years and see that local idea become a commercial success.

MOU signed between Assam down town University & Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST) autonomous R&D institute ,Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India

Assam down town University signed an Memorandum of Understanding on 7th May, 2016 in an auspicious function held at the Auditorium of Institute of Advanced Study in Science & Technology, an autonomous institute under Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India at Vigyan Path, Paschim Boragaon, Garchuk, Guwahati – 781035. The MoU was signed by Dr. N.N. Dutta (Chancellor) from AdtU side and Dr. N.C. Talukdar (Director) from IASST, Guwahati. The MoU signing ceremony was started with a warm welcome address by Dr. N.C. Talukdar (Director, IASST) who also presented an overview of the research activities undertaken at IASST. At the same function along with Assam down town University, MoU were also signed with Drug Discovery Research Center, New Delhi, Cotton College State University and Revelations Biotech Private Limited, Hyderabad. The Heads of the respective institutions/ Universities gave a brief speech about the activities at their respective institutes. Dr. B.G. Unni (Director Research, AdtU) gave away brief appraisal about the overview of the research activities undertaken by the University, future programmes and also spoke about the scope of MoU with the Institute of Advanced Study in Science & Technology with Assam down town University for the days to come. Apart from Dr. N.N. Dutta (Chancellor), Dr. R.C. Deka (Vice Chancellor), Prof. Bandana Dutta (Dean of studies) from Assam down town University were present in the event. The main purpose of this MoU is to create a framework for such a platform of collaborations with specific objectives such as to establish close linkage and functional coordination between AdtU & IASST for facilitating joint collaborative research work between students and faculties , registration of research scholar of IASST in AdtU as per the University’s rules and regulation, to consider the qualified IASST Professionals/ Scientists as accredited instructors/ guides for teaching, research programmes and vice versa and to facilitate creation/ development of new experimental and research/ training facilities through mutual cooperation and exchange of experts between IASST and AdtU.. The time period of the MoU shall be effective for a period of 5 years commencing from the date of signing of this MoU and its continuance will be subject to review of expiry of agreed period of 5 years. This collaboration will also enhance the individual growth of scientific capabilities of these two institutes contributing a lot to the overall growth of this region.

Deputation to CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat: - Students from Department of MLT were deputed to CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat under Summer Training Program from May – July 2016. The students need not pay fees during the training period and will be working under Senior Scientists. They have to prepare a detail project report after the training

 

Meeting organized at Dr.B Baruah cancer institute to formulate a network projects on cancer biology :

Invited to attend a pre – brainstorming meeting on Cancer research was held on 25th May on Dr. Bhubaneswar Borooah Cancer Institute to discuss the organization of brainstorming on Cancer Biology with the leading clinicians and basic scientists of North East region for a joint collaborative project proposal.
