An interactive meeting with ‘Padma Shri’ Dr. Taraprasad Das, Vice Chairman, L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad was held at the Board Room, Assam down town University on 7th June, 2018 at 2.30 P.M. The Chancellor, Pro - Vice Chancellor, Dean of Studies, Director Research, Trustee Members, Chairpersons, Dean and HOD’s of faculties attended the meeting.
Dr. Taraprasad Das was felicitated by Ms. Gariasi Dutta (Resident Trustee, down town Charity Trust) with a traditional manner. Dr. N.N. Dutta, Honorable Chancellor welcomed Dr. Taraprasad Das for visiting Assam down town University and appreciated his efforts for proposing a collaborative project with Assam down town University. Dr. Taraprasad Das in his remarks talked about retinal transplantation, eye diseases and its effective medical and surgical treatments, diagnosis etc. Apart from that Dr. Taraprasad Das also mentioned about the joint collaborative project initiated by Assam down town University with L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad on Biometric Eye. He also talked about the huge potentials of medicinal herbs and herbal products in global market , where university can play a major role through research utilising the richest resources of North East Region. Dr. B G Unni, Director Research gave a brief presentation regarding the progress of research activities going on at Assam down town University and discussed about the future prospects of collaborative work in the areas.
The Chairpersons/ Deans/ HOD’s representing various departments at the meeting interacted with Dr. Taraprasad Das on various important topics. Dr. Taraprasad Das also promised to extend his full support and guidance in the future for any research related matters and others with Assam down town University.The Pro-Vice Chancellor in his concluding remarks thanked Dr. Taraprasad Das for his valuable suggestions and active participation in the meeting, and for his visit to the University. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Ankur Pan Saikia.
