M.Tech in Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering focuses on planning, designing and building infrastructure of worldclass, which includes Water works, Sewer system, Dams, Hydro Power Plants, Railways & Roadways, Highways, Bridges, Tunnels, Irrigation canals, River navigation, Traffic control, Mass transit, Airport runways, Terminals, Industrial plants, Buildings and Skyscrapers etc. It is traditionally broken into several sub- disciplines including Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Municipal or Urban Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Materials Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Surveying, and Construction Engineering.

Cutting Edge Laboratories :

The department has the following well equipped and advanced laboratories :

  • Concrete & Road Materials
  • Structures Engineering
  • Materials Testing
  • Soil Mechanics
  • Foundation Engineering
  • Highway and Transportation
  • Fluid Mechanics
  • Hydraulics
  • Engineering Geology
  • Environmental Engineering

Scope :

Civil engineering takes place on all levels : in the public sector from municipal through to national governments, and in the private sector from individual homeowners through to international companies.New infrastructure, soil conservation, water resources development projects are under progress across the country. For instance several Highway and Hydro-Power Projects have taken up construction works for massive Civil Engineering structures like bridges, tunnels, retaining walls, Dams and Reservoirs apart from multi-storied buildings and for coming up smart cities. The ongoing and proposed projects require large numbers of young, energetic & qualified engineers
