The Project Team from Assam down town university are  Dr. Saikat Sen & Dr. Raja Chakraborty  Associate Professors , department of Pharmacy

This project aimed to profile antioxidant molecules present in certain Joha and black rice. In this proposal, the research team will explore the antioxidant and hypolipidemic effectiveness of few Joha/black rice varieties in the light of a new experimental observation. The biomolecues associated with the rice varieties and their significant function to control the cholesterol and other lipid profiles related to the Cardiovascuilar diseases etc will be studied. According to Dr.BG Unni Director Research Assam down town university, the collective outcome of the project will bring a significant achievement in the research front and would be very much useful for the people of this region.  “We are expecting a positive effect of rice against oxidative stress and hyperlipedemia. Thus a proper scientific investigation add more value added products towards establishing the therapeutic effectiveness of rice ,and to promote the use of such rice varieties in future which in turn  may have a positive effect on livelihood of the people of this region” according to Dr.Chakraborty and Dr.Sen, the project team from the university. The first six monthly progress of the project review committee meeting was held on 16th May, 2017 with the members and reviewed the six months progress of the project.
